What in the World??

Today was one of those "what in the world?" days. Cancelled flights, missed flights, hurry up and wait, what'll we do now... My jaws ache from clenched teeth. Why is it so hard to trust God with the uncontrollable? We can't control the weather, so we have to trust God. We can't control the airlines or the airport authority, so we have to trust God. But sometimes it ain't as easy as it sounds.

My way of coping today has been to look for "God sightings". We do that in Vacation Bible School...we look for God Sightings and share with our classes.

Where did I see God today?

*I saw God in my 17 Ecuador team members and their patience and encouragement and willingness to do whatever they needed to do.

*I saw God in Ernie, who just returned from a week at kids' camp, and was willing to rush to the airport with the church bus and drive us to Houston to try to catch our flight there.

*I saw God in my mischevious rambuctious youngest daughter who kept things lively when we wanted to be discouraged

*I saw God in our youth minister, Marla, who came along beside me and helped me make decisions when I was frustrated with the airlines and the weather and at a loss as to what to do.

*I saw God in the safety of our unexpected four and a half hour long road trip to Houston.

*I saw God in the ease in which we were able to find hotel rooms when so many flights had been cancelled and tons of people were stranded and looking for lodging. (Thanks Robbie!!)

*I saw God when I walked right up to the hotel lobby desk without waiting, just before a rush of people arrived on shuttles from the airport and overwhelmed the poor desk clerks.

*I saw God in every single one of the airport reservationsists, both those behind the counters and those I talked to on the phone, as they tried their best to help us.

What does tomorrow hold? I have no idea...but God does. Will we ever make it to Ecuador? I don't know...but God does. But until then, I'll keep an eye out for more God Sightings....

Thanks for your prayers. We need them!
